The guardrail piece that malfunctioned and impaled Hannah Eimers’ vehicle was designed, created and sold by Lindsay Corp., a major agriculture and road safety equipment conglomerate based in Nebraska.Īfter a series of crashes, including Eimers’, then-Tennessee Department of Transportation Commissioner John Schroer, who also was president of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, wrote a letter to the Federal Highway Administration, saying Lindsay could not clearly explain the X-LITE's installation instructions, and that the product led to "unacceptable safety levels."
